Prior to our medical outreaches in different locations, we engaged with the community leaders: traditional and religious leaders, the older people and government stakeholders. Our aim is not only to provide care for the older people in our community engagement, but also to influence decision makers to increase care for the elderly citizens. For instance, recently our project team conducted community engagement and advocacy to key community stakeholders in Ijako community in Ogun State. In addition to influencing the community leaders to increase commitment to the elderly welfare, 20 elder people were dialogue with, shared their stories and received welfare items and health education on aging and general well-being.
